Silver object captured in picture on the left side just above the tree branch

I discovered this silver object just above the branch and to the left of the tree after I had come in from taking the two pictures. I was standing at my front door facing west to get pictures of the snow to email to my husband who was out of town. When I zoomed in on the object I noticed that it had an unusual shape. In the second picture it had change it shape or direction but was in the same general location. We live just to the south west of a US Army Post. We have a lot of military craft fly over but they are all painted dark green or black and make a lot of noise. There is also a small air field to the south of me but all of the planes that go over from there make a lot of noise. I didn’t hear anything. It seems too shinny to be a bird. I was wondering if you could tell me what it might be.

Saw red lights to the south on Candlewood lake

Was driving home from my parents house after Thanksgiving dinner around 9:25. They live on top of a mountain overlooking the eastern part of Candlewood Lake. I came over a rise about 1/3 miles from the house and saw two red lights to the southeast about 20 to 25 degrees off the horizon. I drove about another 1/3 mile to a clearing where I had clear view to the east, south, and west. That’s when I saw more clusters of red lights to the south and west. They appeared to come straight at my position from the southwest and arced to the southeast and disappeared, coming the closest about one mile from my position. There were over 15 lights in loose clusters of 3 to 4 lights per cluster moving independently from oneanother. The lights were not attached to any solid object, I could see stars between the lights. The lights were about 20 times larger than navigation lights on airplanes. I observed them for about four minutes, during that time the lights were consistent in size and shape. They didn’t pulsate, flicker, change color, or make any sound.Their speed was roughly about 60 to 80 mph. After about three minutes of observing I called 911 and was connected to a Brookfield CT dispatcher to see if anyone else was watching the lights. He said know one has. As I was talking to the dispatcher the last cluster of four lights were passing to the south of my position. At that time a private jet passed over my head at roughly 5000 feet, traveling from the south and going north. At that time the jets engines were the only mechanical sounds I was hearing. The night was crystal clear and the temperature was about 35 degrees. Visibility was excellent almost to the horizon and there was no wind.

2 circular solid white balls decend from behind half moon, circle clockwise & counterclockwise around moon then go behind & front of moon. Something drops down from each ball shape then retracks & they go off in the sky.

Was laying in back of our motorhome watching the sky surprised that the half moon was out at only 4 p m. Noticed the sky was compleatly cloud free from the horizon for as far as I could see in 3 directions. We were traveling E. on I40 just N. of Jackson, Mississippi & I kept looking at the moon on the N. side of our rig & watching how it went from one side of the picture window to the other. Thinking how the road really wasn’t straight & trying to find it again when it was hidden by trees occasionally. All of a sudden I thought I saw 2 white balloons come down from behind the moon, one following the other. They went halfway back up, then to the left & I thought the wind was blowing the balloons around. Since the change in direction was kinda jerky & abrupt, I sat up to take a better look. That’s when I noticed they weren’t balloons but UFO’s that seemed to be playing a game of “catch me if you can.” They would go in a direction one following the other till the back one caught up, then they would turn around & the front one would kinda chase the other. They did this going both clockwise & counterclockwise over & under the moon. I thought these things were not as far away as the moon but then they proceeded to go around the moon in the same direction the Equater goes around the Earth. They would disappear behind the moon & then come back in front from the other side. After awhile they just went in every direction darting around & going behind clouds & coming out again. This was very odd to me because there were no clouds visible in the sky, on taking a better look the “clouds” they were going behind were more brown than cloud color. They went away completely & then came back, came towards the RV (still far up) & had something hanging from the bottom of both. Reminded me of the shape of hot air balloons now & while trying to get a better look they went back to their origonal shape, darted around a couple times & disappeared. I’m very curious as to if anyone else saw them, I kept telling my husband to look but he was driving & couldn’t even see the moon! He takess his driving VERY seriously, pulls off the road for cell phone calls so I know he wouldn’t try hard to see a UFO.

Strangest thing I have ever seen. Left me doubting what I saw..

My wife and I had just turned off the TV in our room and got ready to go to sleep. After a short time (5-10minutes) I got up to relieve myself in our Master Bathroom. It was at this time I observed through my bathroom window a some what large pulsating red orb in the sky to the East/North East of my location. The object appeared to be a considerable distance away (at least three miles)and about the size of a silver dollar. I could hear no rotor wash or engines of any kind. As I observed the object it immediately struck me as odd. It literally moved slowly on a straight trajectory and then would zip backwards, forwards, up and down. My area of view is limited by several trees. The observed object stayed within a my clear 15′ field of vision for close to two and a half minutes. It is during this period the object seemed to linger, hover and change location in a millisecond. The object was pulsing bright red with hints of orange and white.
At this point I’m in disbelief of what I’m seeing, so I called out to my Wife to hurry and come look. The object was moving once again on its original trajectory very slowly and was beginning to leave our clear field of vision. As it moved behind the trees it struck me how bright this object was that it could still be made out through the trees. At this point I feared losing sight of the object and threw on minimal clothes and grabbed my camera to head outside. Once I got out I searched the sky for the object but could not sight it. I still have a sense of disbelief in what I saw. It was unlike anything I have ever observed in the sky. It is worth mentioning I served in the US ARMY as a Cavalry Scout and received intensive training in observing and identifying all types of Aircraft and Armored Vehicles.

On the night of May 13, 2010 at about 9PM, my companion and I were sitting on the beach in Destin, FL just behind Pompano Joe’s restaurant on old Hwy 98. We were taking in the waves and watching the stars. My attention was focused on one ‘star’ that was moving. We had just watched the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis from Cape Kennedy earlier that day and having seen the ISS, satellites, etc. move overhead in the past, it appeared to be about the same size and speed. I thought this may be the shuttle going overhead – until I realized it was traveling from South to North…definitely not a typical satellite orbit from West to East. As we continued watching for about 5-10 minutes, it was directly overhead when it stopped – dead stopped. No sounds were heard except a slight breeze and the waves. My companion and I looked at each other and exclaimed to each other, “NO WAY”. We stayed on the beach another 45 minutes but the object did not move, change brilliance, or anything else noticeable. We had nothing to visually record this event so we gave up craning our necks to watch. There were no other observers around to discuss this with. Being a physicist all my life, I always had reservations about such sightings, etc. until that night.

four orange lights moving acroos sky at high speed. Two in straight line, one along same path but made a U turn, one crossing previous paths at 90 degree angle.

We were at a Cancun Mexico resort hotel pool side on lounge chairs watching the stars at around 9:30PM. The sky was clear with a few cloud and a rising full moon. We saw what appeared to be a shooting star cross the sky from south to north at a high rate of speed. Approximately 3 minutes later a second “light” appeared at the same speed and direction, both disappeared behind clouds. Approximately 5 minutes later a third “light” appeared going at same speed and direction, however this one made a right hand U turn without slowing down and returned in the same direction that it had come. A fourth “light” appeared approximately 3 minutes later going in a west to east direction. It appeared to be the same color, size, distance and traveling at the same rate of speed. The “lights” did not slow down, change color, blink or make a sound. To compare their speed to airplanes we also saw; airplanes took 20 to 30 seconds to disappear, the “lights” took only a few seconds to cross the sky. The “light” that made the U turn did not change color or fade as it turned, the orange light remained constant as it made the turn. If this “light” had not made the U turn, we would have believe we had seen shooting stars or possible space junk burning up. Now, we are not sure what we have seen, except that I have never seen anything make a high speed turn without slowing down as this object did nor do I believe shooting stars change direction.

Hoverin northeastward ocassional change in place

We were throwing football and I looked up and saw a disc shaped object. Five minutes later saw two more above the house. It didn’t move at all and it seemed like it was higher than a typical jet. We didn’t know what to think and we had just seen an advertizement about testing a national alarm on November 9, 2011. It is still in sight but, the other two are gone.

Very large boomerang shaped object with 3 extremely bright white lights across front gliding slowly, quietly, and very low behind my house, then almost over my house

On the night of November 19, 2011 at about 10:30 pm, I was in my house in Stafford, VA. I was by myself at the time. The weather was clear. I walked over to close my back door and noticed through my sliding door a very bright object in the sky, toward the east. The angle of elevation from my viewpoint was probably about 45 degrees. The big lights were white, but it also had a few blinking red lights, not the normal red and green lights you would see on the wings of a commercial airplane. I am accustomed to seeing planes in the night sky as we are on a path toward the DC airports. This was much lower than the planes normally fly and was traveling roughly north to south rather than the normal south to north-flying planes we are accustomed to seeing at night heading toward the airports. My first thought was that it must be a helicopter with searchlights and I wondered for whom or what they might be searching. There was another plane in the area when I noticed the object, but it was much higher and appeared to be just a plane on its normal route toward the airport.

As I continued to watch it, the object moved very slowly in a southerly direction. I noticed that the extremely bright lights were not aimed at the ground as if it were a search helicopter. It moved behind the trees in back of my house. I thought it was strange, but figured Id seen the last of it so I went and sat down. From my chair where I was watching TV I can see that same section of the sky. Maybe 5 or 10 minutes later, I saw what I assume was the same object traveling back this way, south to north. As it got closer, it slowly turned and moved toward my house, just over the power lines. When it turned toward me I could see that it was very large and had 3 huge, round white lights spaced widely and evenly across the front. I could see for certain by now that it was not a helicopter. Plus, we see and hear plenty of helicopters here due to our proximity to the Quantico Marine Corps Base and other military installations. I am very familiar with the loud sound of a helicopter going by. As it approached, I began to hear that it was only making a low sound.

I walked out onto my back porch and watched as it got closer and closer. It appeared to be getting lower toward the ground. For some reason, I wasnt afraid that it was going to crash, I assume because I could tell how slowly it was moving and it seemed to be under control. It was simply mesmerizing and I was transfixed watching it. I was frustrated that I was home alone and couldnt yell for someone to come see what I was seeing. As I watched with my jaw dropped, it glided by very slowly and rather quietly, but not silently, almost overhead. From my porch, it appeared to pass about 30-50 feet to the south of me. I would compare the sound and movement to a boat with a trolling motor, only flying, or the sound somewhat like a lawnmower in the distance. It certainly wasnt the sound of a normal plane engine, which would have been rather deafening at that close range. I am not familiar with a plane that can fly that quietly and slowly or with the configuration of the 3 huge lights.

As it passed by, the intensity of the lights was no longer interfering with my view of the object. I was looking at it from underneath so I could make out the shape, probably aided by the small streetlight that is almost below where it passed. It was dark and appeared to be somewhat of a boomerang shape. There were no lights on the underneath side. If I were to compare it to a full moon, Id estimate that from side to side it would be larger than 10 or 12 moons. Its difficult to say at night, but Id guess it was about 200 feet above the ground. From the time it first came into view from underneath until it went over the trees was about 10 seconds. I could still see it through the small stand of trees beside my house, but I didnt have an unobstructed view any more. It was like standing on the runway if a 747 could glide quietly in for a landing, except it wasnt shaped like a commercial airplane. It was quite large.

It continued gliding across the road in front of my house, and across the field as it curved toward the south and disappeared beyond the trees. I continued to watch for a while, then went inside to find a camera in case it came back. My husband had taken our camera on a trip, our video camera’s battery was dead (probably not caused by the object), and our old film camera also had a dead 6-volt battery, for which I had no replacement. I plugged in the battery for the video camera just in case, but never got a picture. I turned on the radio to see if anyone called in a report, but didn’t hear any news.

A little while later, maybe 15 or 20 minutes, one of my sons came home and I told him what I had seen. Within about another 20 minutes, I saw bright lights again traveling from north to south, similar to where I had seen them the first time. At this point, my son looked out and saw the object and commented on how bright and low it was. He watched until it disappeared behind the trees in our yard. Typical of his not wanting to appear too excited and since he hadnt witnessed what I had seen before, he went back into the kitchen, but I walked out behind my house so I could see behind the trees and watched as it moved south. It never disappeared from sight, but eventually I determined that it was moving closer again and a little higher in the sky. Oddly, the appearance of the lights didnt change like it had turned around more like it was backing up. The bright lights were no longer visible. It came back the way it went, behind my house, higher this time and moving more quickly, but with no white lights on the front, just the red flashing lights on the body. I watched as it flew north and out of sight. That was the last I saw of it.

There are several rows of high-tension power lines behind my house, running somewhat north and south. It was over these at some points, but didnt necessarily follow the lines, especially when it headed south the lines run a little more south-west and it traveled a little more south-east. And, of course, when it turned and came toward me and continued in a slow circle to the south it wasnt over the lines. Other than my son, who just got a brief look at the object when it was more in the distance, Im not aware of any other witnesses, although I dont know how anyone out at that time could have missed it if it passed near them as low and slow as it was here.

This is the second time I have seen something unusual behind my house. The first time was a night almost two years ago and involved something large with only red lights, some blinking and some steady, descending into view through my back door then quickly flipping one end downward and rapidly descending out of sight behind the small hill in my back yard, at about a 45 50 degree angle, into the trees or the creek. That whole incident lasted only maybe 5 or 10 seconds. My first thought was that a plane had caught a wing on the power line and gone down. My husband and I ran outside but never saw anything more. From where he was sitting, he didnt see the lights but followed me out based on my reaction of shock. As I thought about it, I realized it didnt have any white lights like a plane or helicopter would normally have at night and there was no loud noise as a plane or helicopter would have made at that distance.

Ive lived in this house for 24 years and have seen plenty of planes and helicopters out the back door and windows, as that is where my den is and my chair faces toward that direction. These two incidents were definitely unusual. I know what they werent weather balloons, swamp gas, ball lightning but Id certainly like to know what they were. If the large object that nearly flew over my house is military and its ours, then good for us. I dont know why they would test fly it low over a housing development in Northern Virginia, though. Very puzzling. I cant say that what I saw was an extra-terrestrial UFO, but it was F. and it was an O. and it was definitely U. to me. If someone can give me a plausible explanation that would be great because no one with whom Ive spoken has been able to come up with one.

This is the statement from my son:

On the night of November 19, 2011 I came home around 11:00 pm and saw my Mom standing on the back deck looking up into the sky. She explained to me that she had just been watching a large aircraft that had been slowly moving through the sky at a low altitude, with a strange light pattern that didnt resemble an airplane. Because we live near Quantico, I said it could have been one of their planes and went inside. About 20 minutes later, she said she saw it outside again so we walked out onto the back porch and saw a much brighter than normal aircraft flying just over the tree line, heading south. It was moving slower than the airplanes that we frequently see. The lights on it didnt resemble the lights on a normal airplane. It had extremely large front white lights that didnt shoot a beam forward like headlights, but lit up a large area around the front of the aircraft. It seemed to be very large, bigger than a regular jet airplane, which we often see flying behind our house.

The aircraft continued along the tree line from our vantage point until I could no longer see it through the trees from the porch. I thought it was gone, so I walked back into the house, but my Mom walked back up onto the hill to see if she could get a better look at it. I have seen airplanes fly over the house my entire life since we are on one of the flight paths for Washington airports and we live near Quantico. This didnt resemble any passenger jet or any other aircraft Ive seen over the years. When passenger jets, helicopters and military aircraft fly over, they make a clearly audible sound. During the time I observed the aircraft, I didnt hear any sound coming from it. Im curious to know what it was.

Orange like pulsing light moved across sky, hovered, then appeared to fade off into the distance. Seventeen minutes later another light flew almost the identical flight path and did the same thing.

Thanksgiving evening. I received a phone call from a friend at 1825 ET. I get poor reception from Verizon on my cell phone in the house so I went outside to my driveway to talk. It was dark but the sky was clear. Looking to the Northwest approximately 30 degrees or so above the horizon I noticed a bright orange glowing light. It was probably the size of a couple of stars put together, or of an aircraft landing light in the distance. I watched it for a few seconds because it was not the color of an aircraft landing light. I also looked for strobe lights or aircraft navigation lights. THere were none. I have seen the space shuttle take off from my house near Ft. Lauderdale and I’d characterize the light as similar but this was orange, not white. The light moved across the sky and I ran to the door to the house to call my friend. He came out and we both watched it as it moved to the South. The light then seemed to hover in place on a magnetic heading of approximately 200 degrees. THe light then seemed to fade away as if it were moving off now directly away from us. I asked my friend if he thought it could be an afterburner from a fighter. He didn’t think so because it was orange, not white. I would have to agree because it seems that an afterburner would not be visible if the aircraft was moving horizontally across one’s field of vision. it would have to be flying away, especially as far away as the light seemed to be. I went back in the house. At 1842, just 17 minutes later, my friend called me back and I went back outside. It was bizzare but there was another orange fireball like thing in the same place moving in the same direction. This time I called for more of my guests and my wife, sister-in-law, and friend all came out. They all saw it and we watched it do the same thing as the previous one. Each even probably lasted about a minute or so. I should note that I am a 747 Captain for a major U.S. airline. I have been flying for 35 years and I have never witnessed anything like this. The lights were not aircraft lights. If anything this looked more like a very bright propulsion system or rocket exhaust but way off in the distance, thought it was very orange and circular. There was no contrail or exhaust trail, just a glowing orange ball. On both occasions we lost sight of the objects when they appeared to either change direction and fly directly away from us, or they just faded out, not sure which due to the distance.

Satellite does u-turn, then shoots off at angle and disappears

A friend and I were watching the Detroit Freedom Festival Fireworks in 1988. This took place on June 30th and lasted about 35minutes, starting at 10:06pm (source: http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-6799573.html).

We were parked on a stretch of road in Auburn Hills that offers a view of downtown Detroit approx 20-25 miles in the distance. There were maybe a dozen other cars parked there to watch. Unfortunately it was just too far to really enjoy it. My friend got bored and started looking skyward at the cloudless, starry sky. He pointed out a satellite passing by from west to east. The satellite was directly overhead and unmistakable – no flashing, solid white point moving across the sky at an altitude that could have been a low earth orbit. After watching it only a few seconds, it did a U-Turn without any change in velocity, and started heading back west. After only a couple of seconds heading back west it shot off in a SE direction (aprox a 120 degree change of direction) and disappeared in an instant.

My friend and I looked at each other and confirmed that we just saw the same thing. We were both very knowledgable in science (I was studying Physics at the time) and we knew what we saw was not within the realm of possibility as we were familiar with it. We were both calm, and we didn’t draw any attention to ourselves. As far as we knew, nobody else saw it as they were fixated on downtown Detroit. About 15-20 minutes later I brought it up to my friend. By that time his rational, scientific mind had convinced him that he did not see what we thought we saw. Mine probably would have too, had my friend not seen what I had just seen and confirmed it at the time of the sighting.
